Nitya Puja is the daily worship performed at the home altar. It doesn't require elaborate rituals or hours of chanting. It is a simple, consistent practice of expressing gratitude, centering your mind, and creating a pure, positive vibration in your home every single morning.

Pavitrikaran & Aachaman
After bathing, wear clean clothes. Sit on your Asana facing East or North. Take a sip of water from the copper vessel three times (Aachaman) chanting 'Om Keshavaya Namah, Om Narayanaya Namah, Om Madhavaya Namah' to purify yourself internally.
Altar Cleaning
Remove old, dried flowers (Nirmalya) from the previous day. Gently wipe the photo frames or idols with a clean, dedicated cloth. Refill your copper vessel with fresh water.
Deep Prajjawalan (Lighting the Lamp)
Light the Diya and the Agarbatti/Dhoop. The light represents knowledge and the dispelling of ignorance. Place the Diya to the right side of the deities. Once lit, the lamp should not go out during the puja.
Snan & Tilak
If you have metal idols (Laddu Gopal, Shiva Linga), bathe them with water. For photos, mentally offer a bath. Apply a neat Tilak of Chandan, Roli, and Akshat on the forehead of the deities and then on your own forehead.
Pushpanjali & Japa
Offer fresh flowers to the deities respectfully. Close your eyes and sit quietly for a few minutes. Chant your daily prayers, the Gayatri Mantra, or your Ishta Devata's mantra 108 times using a Rudraksha or Tulsi Mala.
Aarti & Kshama Prarthana
Stand up, ring the small bell (Ghanti) continuously with your left hand, and perform a short Aarti with the Diya or Incense with your right hand. Conclude by touching the ground and asking for forgiveness for any known or unknown mistakes made during the worship (Kshama Prarthana).
